How to Hatch Eggs Without an Incubator
- The first thing to do when hatching eggs without an incubator is to set up some form of ‘nest’. A wooden box is good to use to hatch eggs. Take the wooden box and drill a hole in the bottom portion of it and run an electrical wire through the hole and screw in a light bulb (2-3 watts).
- It is now time to drill a hole through the top section of the box. This needs to be slightly smaller than the egg you intend to hatch.
- This method of hatching eggs means that the heat comes from the bottom, through the hole on the top. Place the egg on the top of the hole for roughly a week and keep an eye on it for signs of a cloudy mass appearing. This means that the chick is developing inside the egg.
- The egg will need to be kept at a stable temperature and humidity so it is a very good idea to fill a spray bottle with some water and keep it nearby the hatching eggs. Spray the egg regularly to avoid the chick becoming stuck to the walls of the egg or allowing an air bubble to form.
